Assessing a person's cognitive level is essentially assessing the complexity of their thinking models——

A beginner-level person uses point-based thinking, pursuing a single answer and absolute truth, where everything is black and white, and they're only willing to discuss an isolated causal relationship with you.

An intermediate-level person uses linear thinking, no longer fixated on absolutized conclusions, able to understand simple causal chains and key variables, and willing to listen to different opinions.

An advanced-level person uses network-based thinking, able to see universal connections and dynamic balance among all things;

They embrace uncertainty, revere complexity, and in discussions they won't argue right or wrong with you—they'll only help you build frameworks and analyze pros and cons. They consider exploration of various possibilities and constraints on various conditions, ensuring you see the big picture while returning decision-making authority to you.

Seek out such people more often—this itself is a form of extremely high wisdom.
