Bitmine, a US-based cryptocurrency company co-founded by Tom Lee, has staked an additional 82,560 ETH (worth approximately $259 million USD) on January 2, 2026, bringing the total staked ETH to 544,064 ETH (about $1.7 billion USD), according to on-chain analysis data.
This move follows the accumulation activity in December 2025. Currently, Bitmine holds over 4.1 million ETH, equivalent to about 3.4% of the total supply, and is collaborating with service providers ahead of the launch of the MAVAN staking platform in 2026.
Large-scale staking like this helps lock ETH out of circulation, and historically, it often correlates with price rallies. Data from 2021–2025 shows that staking booms typically precede ETH price increases of over 150%, due to reducing selling pressure in the market.
