The new endless runner game, Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game, is coming to Steam and Epic Games Store, but without any blockchain integration.
After showcasing a few previews, the Ethereum NFT project Goblintown has revealed and released a trailer for its upcoming PC and Mac game, which features gameplay similar to popular mobile titles like Temple Run or Dookey Dash, a game connected to the Bored Ape Yacht Club ecosystem.
Extremely Challenging Gameplay
The first official trailer for Really Hard Driving Game emphasizes its intense difficulty. The closing text in the video reads:
🗨️ “It’s really hard, by the way. My mom played it and immediately crashed off the side because it’s so difficult.”
Even though Goblintown originated in Web3, the developers decided that the game will not include any crypto or NFT elements. While Epic Games Store does allow blockchain-based games, Steam banned them in 2021, forcing some developers to find alternative solutions.
🔹 Alexander Taub, co-founder and CEO of Truth Labs, commented:
🗨️ “The game is a straightforward Web2 title using our IP and world.”
Planned Release and Integration with Abstract
According to Taub, Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game is still 60–90 days away from launch. More details will be revealed closer to release, including how the game will be connected to Abstract, a consumer-focused Ethereum layer-2 network recently launched by Pudgy Penguins’ parent company, Igloo Inc.
🗨️ “Abstract is heavily focused on streaming, and we believe our game will be one of the most fun streaming experiences in 2025,” Taub added.
Goblintown Already Has a History on Steam
Goblintown is not entirely new to Steam. In 2023, its artwork appeared in the popular game Only Up, as it was originally released under an open-source Creative Commons 0 (CC0) license.
However, the game’s developer, known as Indiesolodev, later removed it from Steam, explaining:
🗨️ “I was a solo developer, and this was my first game development experience. I made a lot of mistakes, and the game put me under immense stress for months. I just want to leave it behind.”
Goblintown NFT Collection Surges Following Game Announcement
Following the official reveal of Really Hard Driving Game, the original Goblintown NFT collection experienced a significant price increase. According to NFT Price Floor, its value surged nearly 20% in the past 24 hours, raising its price to $573. 🚀
