UK Treasury Plans to Draft Cryptocurrency Regulations, Implementation Starting in 2027



According to Ha Shilian News, The Guardian reports that the UK Treasury is developing new regulations to include cryptocurrencies under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulatory framework from 2027, aligning them with other financial products. Chancellor Rachel Reeves stated that this move aims to enhance transparency, boost consumer confidence, and combat illegal activities. The UK government also plans to ban the use of cryptocurrencies for political donations in response to concerns over unclear sources of crypto funds.
