A former classmate came to see me. I invited him to dinner. Not long after we sat down, he started complaining about benefits being cut at his company, layoffs at big corporations, bankruptcies of small businesses, workplace frustrations and injustices...
It felt like all the negative energy in the world was concentrated on him.
I quickly got up to pay the bill, politely saw him off, and decided never to have any dealings with him again.
About 10 years ago, I made a decision never to complain about anything to anyone again. This decision was very important, so much so that I believe it has unquestionably reshaped my mind in the years that followed.
Complaining is just a sign of helplessness and frustration.
When faced with trouble and setbacks, the right attitude is to solve the problem if you can, or endure if you cannot.
Complaining serves no purpose; it only shows others your helplessness and frustration.
In my understanding, I believe the two worst mindsets are: “complaining” and “jealousy.”
