Elon Musk: I Don't Own Any Cash… My Entire Wealth Is in My Company Shares

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and owner of the X platform, is approaching a historic milestone that could make him the first person in the world to reach a net worth of one trillion dollars.

Despite his massive wealth estimated at around $849 billion, according to Forbes' billionaire index, Musk revealed a surprising fact, confirming that he doesn't hold significant cash and that most of his wealth is concentrated in his stakes in the companies he leads.

Musk's comment came in response to a post on X discussing his proximity to becoming the first "trillionaire" in the world and the possibility of leading a new wave of wealthy individuals toward enormous fortunes.

Musk said: "My net worth is almost entirely due to my stakes in my companies, primarily Tesla and SpaceX. I have 0% cash."

He added that all Tesla and SpaceX employees receive shares as part of their compensation packages, noting that more than 80% of Tesla's shares are owned by individual investors, index funds, and pension funds, meaning that any increase in the company's value benefits them as well.
