Two Sessions | Chen Zuhen: Hong Kong Should Highlight Safe Haven Role in Alignment with the 15th Five-Year Plan
Legislative Council Member Chan Chu-hung of the Civil Human Rights Front warmly congratulates the conclusion of the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress. He points out that Hong Kong should continue to leverage its professional service advantages to assist mainland enterprises in “going out,” creating an efficient “overseas” platform, and further highlight its key role as a highly internationalized “safe harbor” for global commerce and trade, helping the country expand high-level opening-up and create new opportunities for win-win cooperation.
He states that the “14th Five-Year Plan” outlines a grand blueprint for national development and points the way for Hong Kong’s growth. It reflects the country’s high regard for Hong Kong’s development and international advantages, injecting strong confidence into the practice of “one country, two systems” and long-term prosperity and stability. He expresses firm support for this and emphasizes that all sectors in Hong Kong should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the national two sessions, especially grasping the strategic requirements of the country’s “high-quality development,” proactively aligning with the opportunities of the “14th Five-Year Plan,” and contributing to the country’s high-quality growth.
He notes that the “14th Five-Year Plan” emphasizes optimizing and upgrading traditional industries, including expanding the supply of quality products such as textiles. He believes that the textile industry, as a traditional advantage of Hong Kong, is also an international textile and fashion hub connecting inside and outside markets. The industry will continue to leverage its hub advantages, turning national support into practical momentum, helping the country enhance its competitiveness in the international industrial chain and division of labor. It will also continue to showcase Chinese culture and fashion as a vibrant “golden card,” aligning with the “14th Five-Year Plan” to stimulate cultural innovation and enhance the dissemination of Chinese civilization, telling China’s story in a language the world understands, and continuously strengthening the country’s cultural soft power.
