Samsung: The memory shortage is expected to end in 2028

As the demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure drives DRAM prices to triple-digit increases, Samsung and SK Hynix are responding with rare caution to this round of supply shortages — the two Korean memory giants have incorporated potential oversupply risks into their strategic decisions and are proactively slowing down expansion plans.

According to Korean media Chosun Biz, Samsung expects this memory shortage to ease around 2028. To prevent “overinvestment,” the company has closely linked its expansion pace with demand forecasts. SK Hynix has also previously stated that it will adopt a “cautious” stance toward capacity expansion.
