Samsung Electronics Considers Extending Memory Chip Contract Terms to 3-5 Years

Gate News Report, March 18 — Samsung Electronics is considering shifting the contract model for memory chips to multi-year agreements, extending contract durations from the current quarterly or annual basis to 3-5 years to stabilize supply and alleviate market concerns over shortages of key components. Samsung Electronics Co-CEO Jun Young-hyun stated at the annual shareholders’ meeting that the company is considering extending existing contracts to a maximum of 3-5 years. He noted that with AI memory chip demand expected to continue surging through 2026, this adjustment is of significant importance.
