Reddy also proposed a bold suggestion: Google should abandon side projects and concentrate all efforts on training 100 models simultaneously, then select the best version to release. Her logic is straightforward—rather than slowly iterating one version, it’s better to cast a wide net and save time.
As her post sparked discussion, Elon Musk responded with a cryptic remark: “Google will win the AI race in the West, China will win on Earth, SpaceX will win in space.” Many interpreted this as Musk supporting Google over OpenAI, while others believed he was simply promoting SpaceX.
Regardless of Musk’s intentions, this exchange reveals a genuine anxiety: the AI arms race has entered a heated phase, with even industry insiders publicly questioning the pace and strategies of major companies. Whether Gemini 3.0 can prove itself remains to be seen.
