Vitalik Buterin Proposes Fast Confirmation Rules, Ethereum Deposit Confirmation Time May Be Shortened to 13 Seconds

ETH-2,89%

Gate News reports that on March 19, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently proposed the Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR), aiming to significantly reduce Ethereum deposit confirmation times from the current 2-13 minutes to approximately 13 seconds. The protocol change improves user experience by providing early confirmation signals based on validator proofs, without requiring a hard fork. It is important to note that FCR does not replace Ethereum’s full final confirmation process but offers a faster confirmation option when network conditions are good.

The proposal has sparked discussions within the Ethereum community, with critics raising concerns about validator centralization, as well as reliance on validator honesty and low latency. Despite these concerns, FCR is still seen as an important step to enhance transaction efficiency on the Ethereum network. This initiative is part of the Lean Ethereum roadmap, which aims to increase Ethereum’s resilience and throughput while maintaining security.
