Gate News reports that on March 25, according to Press TV, the Iranian government-controlled news channel, Iranian officials issued a statement rejecting the U.S. proposal and insisting that the war will only end on Iran’s terms and timeline. The official stated that Iran will not allow Trump to decide when the war ends and emphasized that Tehran will continue to defend itself and deliver “heavy blows” to enemies until its demands are met.
The official outlined five specific conditions for Iran to agree to end the war: 1) a complete halt to enemy “aggression and assassinations”; 2) the establishment of a concrete mechanism to ensure that the war is not imposed on Iran again; 3) guarantees and clear delineation of compensation and repair costs for war damages; 4) ending the war across all fronts and within all resistance organizations involved in the region; 5) international recognition and protection of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has conveyed to all well-intentioned mediators that a ceasefire is contingent upon acceptance of all its conditions. The official emphasized, “No negotiations will take place until then,” reaffirming that Iran’s defensive actions will continue until the above conditions are met.
