Backhand Trump! Iran refuses to allow passage through the Strait of Hormuz, Revolutionary Guards attack a Qatar Energy company oil tanker

Middle East tensions have once again suffered a severe blow! According to reports compiled by Bloomberg, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi today (1) firmly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s ceasefire conditions, directly stating that the sovereignty of the Strait belongs only to Iran and Oman, and describing Trump’s threats as a “ridiculous display.” Even more concerning, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard immediately confirmed that they attacked the tanker “Aqua One” leased by QatarEnergy.
(Background: Trump: Iran has requested a ceasefire from the United States! But first, you must reopen the Strait of Hormuz—otherwise, we will blast Iran back to the “Stone Age”)
(Additional context: Trump has lied too many times! Iran’s parliament speaker publicly refutes: there has never been any negotiation with the United States)

The dawn of geopolitical peace was extinguished within just a few hours. After U.S. President Donald Trump set “opening the Strait of Hormuz” as a prerequisite for the ceasefire, Iran’s officials and military issued a series of tough statements today (1), not only fully denying Trump’s basis for negotiation but also directly demonstrating an attitude of refusing to submit through military action.

Foreign Minister Araghchi: Strait sovereignty “not decided by the U.S.”

According to reports compiled by Bloomberg, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a cold response to Trump’s remarks on Truth Social. Araghchi emphasized:

“Only Iran and Oman will decide the future of the Strait of Hormuz.”

This statement effectively declares that the U.S. has “no right to interfere” in Middle Eastern shipping lane affairs. Iran’s officials later added that the Strait of Hormuz would never be reopened because of Trump’s “absurd” posture and threats. This sharply contrasts with Trump’s earlier praise of Iran’s new president as “smart” and “less aggressive.”

Live-fire attack! QatarEnergy-leased tanker “Aqua One” was attacked

More destructive than diplomatic rhetoric was the military action from the front lines. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) today confirmed that they immediately launched an attack in the waters of the Persian Gulf, striking a tanker named “Aqua One.” It is understood that the tanker was leased by QatarEnergy, and the attack occurred within Qatari waters.

This attack sent an extremely dangerous signal:

  • Expanding the scope of strikes: The attack took place in Qatari waters, demonstrating Iran’s willingness to challenge the security of neighboring countries’ territorial waters.
  • Targeting the energy core: QatarEnergy is a key player in the global liquefied natural gas and oil supply; this move aims to precisely strike the global energy supply chain.
  • Refusing to compromise: Iran, through concrete action, rejected Trump’s “ceasefire for navigation” proposal.
