Large telecom companies can leverage the telemetry data from the Helium Network to reduce operational costs and expand coverage in dead zones. Mong stated at Consensus 2025 that it costs about $300,000 for telecom companies to build a tower, while shared Wi-Fi can lower costs.
Helium collaborates with telecom companies to expand coverage. In 2024, it partners with Telefónica, and in 2025 with AT&T, allowing users to automatically access the Helium Network. The U.S. has 95,272 mobile hotspots, and there are 284,053 IoT hotspots worldwide.
