For two days, he had been wandering hopelessly without finding a drop of water. He knew that if he couldn't find water very soon, his life would come to an end in a few hours.
At that moment, he saw a cabin in the distance. At first, he believed it was a mirage. Gathering the last of his strength, he walked towards the cabin. As he got closer, his hope grew, finally... the cabin was really there. But as he approached, he saw that it had been abandoned for years. Still, he went inside. Maybe I can find some water, he thought...
And at that moment, he saw a hand-operated water pump, went to the head of the pump and started to draw water. But nothing came out. The pump was dry, it was clear that it hadn't been used for a long time. It was broken. It collapsed to the ground.
Just then, he noticed a bottle hanging from the ceiling. He struggled to reach it and grabbed it. Just as he was about to drink, he saw a note on the bottle: "Use this water to operate the pump."
And please... refill the bottle again — for the next passenger who will come after you.
He suddenly experienced a terrible hesitation.
Should she drink this water to save her life?
Or should he have linked all his hope to the pump working and poured the water inside?
What if the pump doesn't work?
What if the groundwater is depleted?
And finally, she decided to trust what was written in the note. With her trembling hands, she poured the water into the pump...
And it started to pump - its only strength was the hope within.

He drank to his heart's content. His body revived, his mind opened, and his heart was filled with life again. Then, as he wrote in the note, he refilled the bottle and hung it from the ceiling.
Just as he was about to leave, he noticed another bottle — a glass bottle.
There was a pen and a map inside.
The map was showing the way out of the desert.
He memorized the route, put the map away, filled his water bottles, and set out through the door.
But it stopped a few steps later.
He/She returned. He/She thought.
Then he took the pen and wrote this under the note:
"Believe me... this pump is working."
