Crypto phishing attacks took a sharp turn in 2025—reported losses plummeted 83% compared to previous years, marking a significant win for security awareness. But here's the catch: the threat hasn't vanished, just evolved.

Just this week, a sophisticated wallet drainer struck through a malicious permit signature, draining $1.08M in aEthLBTC from a single user. This method has become the new frontier for attackers bypassing traditional security layers.

The permit signature exploit is particularly nasty because it operates in the shadows of DeFi interactions. Users approve token spending without realizing they're signing away their entire portfolio. aEthLBTC holders and other DeFi participants should stay vigilant—one careless signature can mean total asset loss.

The 83% drop in overall phishing losses suggests better security practices are taking root, but wallet drainers prove that attackers are simply becoming more surgical and targeted. The message is clear: security protocols evolve, but so do the criminals.

Wow, the permit signature move is really clever. With just one signature, it's gone, and there's no way to defend against it.

Even signing your name can be drained, this is too outrageous... I don't even dare to click on anything now.

Losing 83% less is indeed good, but it's like playing whack-a-mole—kill one, and another pops up. The permit signature move is really ruthless; if you're not careful, you'll lose everything.

A million dollars just like that gone, even signing your name can make you lose your pants. It feels like the permit signature system is indeed a bit outrageous.

Just signing your name can make you lose all your money, it's really crazy... These days, you still have to make sure you know exactly what you're doing each time.

Loss decreased by 83%, looks good, but that permit signature trick is really clever... One careless move and it's all gone, gotta be more cautious.

Be very careful when signing a permit, one wrong move and everything is gone... 1,080,000 just disappeared like that, who wouldn't be afraid?

83% of the data looks good, but the real players have long migrated to the permit system. Retail investors are still celebrating, while on-chain whales have already changed their stance.

permit signature this move is really brilliant, a single signature directly lost 1.08 million, hilarious... I thought phishing attacks were already over

The permit signature thing is really incredible; if you're not careful, your entire wallet could be gone.
