In any trading dashboard, you'll typically see two key metrics displayed:

Grey indicators track your unrealized PnL—the gains or losses on positions you're currently holding. These numbers fluctuate in real-time as market prices move, but they don't lock in until you actually close the trade.

Yellow indicators represent your realized PnL—the actual profits or losses you've already cashed out from closed positions. Once you hit sell or take profit, these numbers become permanent and move from unrealized to realized.

The distinction matters: unrealized PnL shows potential, while realized PnL shows what's already in your account.

Gray is just paper wealth, yellow is real gold and silver... By the way, when will my pile of trapped positions turn around?

All that glitters is just paper wealth; gold and silver are the real riches. You need to think this through.
