Bitcoin Core’s development activity rebounded in 2025. Casa Chief Security Officer Jameson Lopp summarized that the number of emails on the Bitcoin developer mailing list increased by approximately 60% year-over-year, with a total of 135 different contributors submitting code to the Bitcoin Core repository, up from about 112 in 2024, ending a multi-year downward trend since the 2018 peak; in 2025, Bitcoin Core completed its first public third-party security audit, conducted by Quarkslab and funded by Brink, which found no serious vulnerabilities; in terms of funding support, VanEck continued to allocate 5% of its profit from its spot Bitcoin ETF to support Brink’s development funding.
