When network-based assets gain traction over time, they accumulate a competitive advantage that's hard to replicate—what you might call a time-based moat. In the crypto space, this dynamic plays out especially clearly. Projects with established networks, deep liquidity, and years of infrastructure development create barriers to entry that newer competitors struggle to overcome.

Take BTC and ETH as prime examples. Bitcoin's first-mover advantage combined with its immutable ledger and growing adoption creates staying power. Ethereum's ecosystem, with thousands of dApps, billions locked in protocols, and developer mindshare built over years, doesn't vanish overnight. The longer these networks exist and the more activity they accumulate, the more defensible their positions become.

This isn't about hype—it's structural. When choosing where to deploy capital in crypto, recognizing which assets have earned their moats through time and adoption matters.

BTC and ETH's moat is indeed strong, but applying this logic to other coins can easily backfire... Time doesn't mean everything.

The concept of a time moat sounds good, but at the end of the day, it's just Bitcoin and Ethereum lying ahead... No matter how awesome a new project is, it still takes a few years to turn things around.

The concept of a time moat has become a cliché, but it indeed hits the point. The status of BTC and ETH is essentially a result of sitting back and winning effortlessly.

That's right, time is the strongest moat. No matter how much money later entrants spend, they can't catch up to the network effects accumulated by BTC and ETH over more than ten years, and this is not虚的.

Basically, it's the big getting bigger and bigger. Bitcoin and Ethereum are two that you'll never shake off in this lifetime.

Basically, Bitcoin and Ethereum have such deep moats that newcomers have little chance of turning things around.

In plain terms, the moat for Bitcoin and Ethereum is getting wider and wider, making it extremely difficult for newcomers to turn things around.
