Decentralized projects need to last long, and the key is how well the community governance is done. Walrus recently launched Governance 2.0 upgrade, a complete chain of "proposal-review-vote-implementation" that truly decentralizes decision-making power from the top down to the community.
What are the highlights of this upgrade? The threshold has been significantly lowered. As long as you hold enough WAL tokens, you can directly initiate ecosystem proposals—covering core matters like technical directions, incentive mechanisms, and ecosystem collaborations. Once the proposal passes review by the Community Review Committee, it is open for voting to all token holders. If the approval rate exceeds 50%, it moves into the actual implementation phase. The official has also set up a governance incentive pool; participating in proposals or voting earns you additional WAL rewards. This incentive mechanism is quite interesting.
Here is the one-month performance report of the upgrade—23 community proposals have been implemented, including 5 proposals like "Low-Carbon Node Incentive Optimization" and "Expansion of Educational Data Storage Scenarios," which have already been approved by voting and are now in execution. Community participation has surged by 300% month-over-month, creating an atmosphere of "everyone builds together, everyone shares."
From a personal perspective, this is indeed a great opportunity to participate in ecosystem development. You can directly influence the project's direction through proposals and voting, earn governance incentives, and most importantly, get the first-hand insight into core dynamics and decision-making processes within the ecosystem. This will be very helpful for your strategic planning.

Wait, is there still WAL rewards for voting participation? I need to calculate if the gas fees are worth it. How's the Gwei trend late at night...
I'm about to be pulled into the governance incentive pool again. I really need to change this habit.
23 proposals in a month? Seems a bit虚, does the 300% participation rate really mean a 300% increase or just good-looking data?
Honestly, that 300% figure sounds a bit悬, how much real money is actually involved?
Low proposal thresholds are indeed attractive, but how much WAL do you need to hold to initiate one? That's another cost...
Why do I keep wanting to participate in on-chain governance? Am I addicted or do I genuinely see this as a good direction? I need to calm down.

nah hold up, 50% threshold is actually kinda sus if you think about the game theory here. who's actually voting on these proposals lol, the usual whale circus? technically speaking if you map out the voting mechanics, that's demonstrably sub-optimal governance design. seen this pattern before, sounds good on paper but the execution is gas inefficient in terms of decision-making throughput.

This governance incentive really hit home for me. Proposals can earn rewards and influence direction, much more reliable than the fake democracy of some projects.

This governance incentive pool is truly awesome. The opportunity to get WAL for free is here.

Uh... a 300% surge in engagement, is this number a bit outrageous?
