Graphics Processing Unit (GPU, from the English “Graphics Processing Unit”) — is a powerful specialized chip designed for lightning-fast processing of large volumes of data. In short, it is not just a component for video games, but a versatile tool for parallel computing, which today is used in the most unexpected fields — from neural networks to cryptocurrency mining.

The late 1990s marked the emergence of the first graphics processors. Their main task was simple: to offload the central processor (CPU) from heavy graphics processing. At that time, video cards primarily handled 2D and 3D visualization, ensuring smooth gameplay and multimedia applications.
