#密码资产动态追踪 The technical lead of the Ethereum Foundation recently discussed a topic—how zero-knowledge cryptography will change the future of Ethereum.

The core idea is actually not complicated: this technology is gradually evolving from a theoretical concept into a real, usable network infrastructure. Over the past one or two years, research teams have made significant breakthroughs in this area. Although the current upgrade focus remains on improving Layer 2 performance and optimizing Blob space, the feasibility of zero-knowledge proofs as a protocol-level feature is becoming increasingly apparent.

You might ask—what does this mean? In simple terms, Ethereum researchers are already planning a native zkEVM solution, aiming to make the network default to using zero-knowledge proofs for transaction verification. This sounds very hardcore, but the benefits are obvious: significantly reducing the computational costs of maintaining network security, while achieving true scalability without compromising decentralization and reliability.

Interestingly, even as the technical approach continues to iterate, Ethereum’s commitment to several principles remains unchanged—risk resistance, security protection, censorship resistance, and neutrality—these are still embedded in its DNA.

In short, this is not just a technical upgrade; it’s about defending the bottom line while continuously exploring what can be achieved.

Zero-knowledge proofs sound impressive, but at the end of the day, it's all about making Ethereum run faster and cheaper. How long will it really take for this technology to be practically implemented?

Zero-knowledge proofs have gone from theoretical concepts to real-world implementation quite quickly... but don't celebrate too early; the real challenges often lie in the details.

zk is indeed gradually being implemented, but the question is when we can truly see the effects on the mainnet. Everyone is talking about how awesome zkEVM is, but currently zk solutions on L2 are still in various stages of experimentation, and it still feels far off. It sounds good—reducing costs and truly scaling—but will users actually feel the benefits? That’s the key. If native zk proofs are truly deployed, it would be a real shock to the current batch of L2 solutions. Ethereum is like this—holding the line steadfastly, but no one knows if zk can break through as scheduled.

zkEVM has been developed, and only then can Ethereum truly take off. It's still in the experimental stage, so it's a bit urgent.

zkEVM has been implemented on Ethereum, allowing it to truly outpace other public chains. Now, we're just waiting for protocol-level integration.

zkEVM is really coming, Ethereum is taking this seriously, but it still depends on whether it can be implemented. zkEVM sounds awesome, but I'm just worried it might be another promise on a PPT. As expected, only zero-knowledge proofs can truly break the deadlock. If it can reduce gas fees, I’ll believe it; don’t let it be another mirage. Ethereum’s DNA really contains a lot, but execution capability needs to keep up. Can it really break through this time? I’m optimistic but not too confident. How long will it take for native zkEVM to become a reality?

zkEVM is really getting faster. Ethereum is stable this time. Just wait and see the day when the mainnet integration happens.
