The new tax on unrealized profits in the Netherlands is one of the worst political ideas I have heard in the last 10 years or so. In reality, it will not achieve anything except making the poor even poorer. Wealthy people have options, and they will use them.
I would never allow my net worth to be slowly taken away by the state, and neither will the Dutch elites. If they do not leave the country, and some of them will, they will simply move their wealth into BVs, which are not taxed in the same way, and that will be the end of it. To sum it up: the rich will not care, and the poor will suffer more. I am not a political person, but this kind of policy in Europe has to stop. Otherwise, we risk serious long term economic decline.
