Today, it was learned that on the eve of the Spring Festival, the State Administration for Market Regulation organized market regulation departments across the country to conduct a special safety sampling inspection of 67,000 batches of popular holiday foods, with a pass rate of 98.38%, indicating that overall food safety is good. The special inspection covered busy holiday venues such as tourist attractions, large supermarkets, highway service areas, and train station surroundings in 31 provinces nationwide, as well as 23 online platforms including JD.com, Taobao, and Meituan. The重点 inspection focused on popular New Year foods such as pastries, roasted snacks and nut products, candies, and meat products. The inspection items mainly tested food additives, microorganisms, quality indicators, and pesticide and veterinary drug residues. The results showed that no non-compliant samples were found among nine categories of foods including dairy products, convenience foods, and canned goods. However, attention is still needed regarding the excessive use of food additives beyond permitted limits in fruits and fruit products, seasonings, and pesticide and veterinary drug residues in edible agricultural products. For the non-compliant samples found in this inspection, the State Administration for Market Regulation has urged local regulatory departments to carry out investigations and handle the cases.
