Mars Finance reports that, according to market sources, the Buenos Aires Court in Argentina ordered a complete ban on the prediction market platform Polymarket on March 16, 2026. The ban is to be enforced by the national telecommunications regulator ENACOM, and Google and Apple are required to remove the app from their local app stores. The ban was initiated following a complaint from the Buenos Aires Lottery Bureau (LOTBA), which determined that Polymarket, under the guise of a “prediction market,” was essentially operating an unlicensed online gambling business. The platform does not require identity or age verification, posing significant risks to users. Argentina thus becomes the second country in Latin America, after Colombia, to fully restrict the platform.
