According to a report by Iran’s Fars News Agency on the 7th, the Amirkabir Petrochemical Plant in Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran, was hit by airstrikes from the United States and Israel on that day, causing damage to some facilities within the plant. The plant is located within the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone and is one of Iran’s important polymer production bases.
In addition, the Arak Aluminum Plant in Markazi Province in central-western Iran was also targeted by U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on the same day. The Arak Aluminum Plant is a key aluminum production base in Iran.
The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement on the 6th, saying that they carried out an airstrike on a large petrochemical complex in the Asaluyeh area in southern Iran on that day. The facility is Iran’s largest petrochemical complex.
The statement said that the facilities in Asaluyeh contain critical infrastructure used for producing explosives and ballistic missile propellant, and are an important raw material supply hub for Iran’s missile industry. (Xinhua News Agency)
