A Major U.S.-Iran Ceasefire Reversal! “Principle Agreement” Just Reported, Both Sides Immediately Deny It

On the evening of April 15, a wild episode played out like a soap opera: The Associated Press first broke the news that the U.S. and Iran had “agreed in principle” to extend the ceasefire due to expire on April 22. Before the announcement even finished, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly denied all related speculation, and U.S. media AXIOS also cited officials’ comments, saying the U.S. had never officially agreed to the extension.

At present, both sides are only maintaining contact through Pakistan mediators, and the date for the next round of talks has not been set. Talks directly held last weekend have completely fallen apart, and there has been no progress on the three key disagreements: Iran’s nuclear program, navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and war losses compensation.

Trump’s statements remain contradictory: on one hand, he says the “fighting is very close to ending,” and on the other, he claims that “within an hour, we can destroy all of Iran’s bridges and power plants.” More ironically, the U.S. military’s blockade of Iranian ports is still ongoing, and the two sides’ claims about whether shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been interrupted are completely opposed.

Meanwhile, Israel’s airstrikes and ground battles in Lebanon have never stopped, and more than 1 million people have been displaced. The so-called “dawn of peace” is nothing more than another self-directed and self-staged wave of information fog.
