Just spent way too much time exploring Starfield's Skink and honestly, this planet is wild. So if you're in the Cheyenne system looking for your next mining operation, Skink is sitting right there between Narion and Kryx, and it's basically a resource goldmine once you know what you're doing.

First thing - the planet itself is absolutely brutal. We're talking desolate rocky terrain mixed with volcanic zones, and the closer you get to the sun, the worse it gets. Solar radiation and heat damage are constant threats, so definitely prep your gear before landing. But here's why people keep coming back: the metals. Mercury, Nickel, Fluorine, Cobalt, Silver - all waiting to be extracted. Skink doesn't support life, but it supports serious profit if you can handle the conditions.

I ran into some issues my first time. The Scanner Anomaly Landing Area icon wasn't showing up, which was frustrating. The fix that worked for me was landing anyway, then climbing to the highest peak on the planet. From up there, scanning revealed this weird distortion pointing toward some alien ruins. If you're stuck like I was, also try manually selecting the mission objective in your quest log - that usually triggers the marker.

The real kicker is the temples. I hit Temple Tau and got the Reactive Shield power, but apparently the temple changes each time you visit. That's the kind of randomization that keeps Starfield interesting. Oh, and before you get too excited about setting up outposts on Skink - you'll need the right skill unlocked first. Otherwise you're just mining manually.

Skink in Starfield is one of those places that feels genuinely dangerous but rewarding. Harsh environment, solid resources, and enough mystery to make it worth the trip. If you're progressing through the Power from Beyond quest or just hunting for rare metals, this planet definitely delivers.
