关于那个 NFT(Legends Collection)。

SIXR Cricket: Real Utility or Just Another Hype Train?

Caught SIXR Cricket trending under the #SportsFi tag on X the other day. Since I follow cricket (though I’m not exactly a die-hard fan), I decided to dig into what they’re actually building.

Honestly, seeing the combination of "Cricket + Web3" made me skeptical at first. Let’s be real—the space is littered with sports-themed cash grabs. But after going through their whitepaper and checking out the community, I feel like there’s a bit more logic here than usual.

First off, the fundamentals are actually quite interesting.
This isn’t just a "vaporware" project with a couple of PowerPoint slides. It’s backed by Bongo, a massive entertainment platform in South Asia with over 300 million users. That’s a big deal because the biggest bottleneck for Web3 right now is the lack of actual users. Even if they convert only 1% of that base, the numbers would be massive compared to most GameFi projects. Building on the TON blockchain is also a pragmatic move—they are clearly aiming for the low entry barrier and high penetration of Telegram rather than trying to compete on more expensive, "elitist" chains like Ethereum.
Then there’s the celebrity backing.
Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi are absolute gods in the cricket world. Usually, I hate celebrity endorsements because they’re just paid to slap their name on something. However, SIXR seems to have designed actual interactive elements, like the "Fan Battle" mode and the #SIXRChallenge where fans upload videos of their own batting. It feels a bit like Web2 marketing, but it shows more effort than just minting a random NFT and calling it a day.

About the NFTs (Legends Collection).
I took a look at GetGems, and the 666 limited-edition NFTs are indeed sold out. Holders get in-game attribute boosts and special perks. This is standard fare for GameFi—nothing revolutionary, but as long as the floor price holds, it shows the core community is still there.
What I found most interesting, though, was their user acquisition strategy.
They didn’t just go for a "register and get free coins" approach. Instead, they used platforms like Kaito AI to host leaderboard tasks, linking token distribution to actual community engagement. It’s still a "farming" meta, but it at least filters for active users rather than just pure bot farms.

A bit of cold water regarding the SIXR token and airdrops.
I looked at the airdrop rules, and while they’ve reserved a good chunk for NFT holders and leaderboard leaders, we all know the drill: the selling pressure after a TGE (Token Generation Event) is usually brutal. If the game experience is clunky or the tokenomics aren't designed to withstand a sell-off, it could easily become a "one-hit-wonder."
My personal take:
The project’s current strategy is solid—they have a Web2 foundation for stability and Web3 mechanics for incentive. However, the SportsFi sector is still in its infancy. The "Final Boss" for them will be whether they can actually onboard traditional fans who know everything about cricket but nothing about crypto wallets.

Final word of advice:
This is just my personal research (DYOR). The team seems to be putting in the work, but Web3 is a wild ride. If you’re a cricket fan, it’s worth checking out the game for fun. But if you’re strictly in it for the airdrop or the investment, look closely at their economic model and don't get blinded by the celebrity faces.
Just some thoughts—seeing as there aren't many "real-world" applications in the market right now, this one is worth watching.
