Gate's GUSD is a tokenized US Treasury product, backed by real-world assets (RWAs) such as US Treasury bonds. It brings the duration and yield characteristics of traditional fixed-income securities on-chain, enabling users to access the benefits of conventional debt instruments within a blockchain framework.

Core Principles of GUSD

GUSD, introduced by Gate, is more than an ordinary stablecoin. It’s a dollar-denominated tokenized instrument backed by real-world assets (RWAs) such as U.S. Treasury bonds. By bringing the traditional fixed-income concept of “duration × yield” on-chain, GUSD enables users to receive both principal and accrued interest in a single redemption, closely mirroring the cash management logic of traditional finance.

Simple Ways to Participate

Gate provides two straightforward participation methods for different investor profiles:

  • Direct spot market exchange: Users can quickly swap USDT for GUSD on the spot market.
  • On-chain minting: Users holding USDT or USDC can mint GUSD at a 1:1 ratio.

Once minted, GUSD serves as unified account margin. It can also be used in major trading pairs, supporting both trading and portfolio allocation needs.

Yield Mechanism Design

GUSD generates yield from underlying U.S. Treasury bonds and other RWA assets. Unlike most products with daily interest accrual, GUSD settles all yield in a lump sum at redemption.

  • For instance, if a user mints GUSD with 100 USDT and earns a cumulative 20% return during the holding period, they would receive 120 USDC at redemption. This payout structure makes GUSD functionally similar to an on-chain note with a maturity coupon component.

Additionally, Gate now offers GUSD flexible savings, allowing users to earn ongoing yield on idle funds at any time.

Staking and Ecosystem Rewards

To boost user engagement, Gate has rolled out the GUSD staking pool. Participants earn base yields and may also share in additional CELB token rewards. Annualized returns may reach up to 365% according to official figures. Looking ahead, Gate plans to integrate GUSD with lending, CandyDrop, and other ecosystem initiatives, building a dual-pronged model of stable returns and community incentives.

How GUSD Differs from Traditional Stablecoins

Most stablecoins are primarily used for payments and transfers, while GUSD is time-linked and delivers appreciation potential. GUSD provides not only dollar-denominated stability but also allows holders to accrue returns over time, offering an on-chain investment experience comparable to bonds.

Liquidity and Transparency

Gate aims to rapidly expand GUSD’s market cap beyond $100 million and will incrementally disclose proof-of-reserves and custody details, reinforcing external validation and ensuring 100% asset backing. Regarding liquidity, users can redeem GUSD for USDC at any time, then convert to USDT or other assets. This ensures unrestricted access in and out, giving users complete confidence in their liquidity.

Differentiators from Other RWA Products

  • Dual-currency minting: Supports both USDT and USDC for added flexibility.
  • Unified application: Seamless integration of trading, margin, savings, and staking functions.
  • Ecosystem synergy: Compatible with Gate’s Launchpool, CandyDrop, and more, offering a variety of yield opportunities.

Conclusion

GUSD is more than a stablecoin—it is an innovative on-chain dollar management solution. Its lifecycle design includes minting, holding, staking for rewards, and flexible redemption. With deep integration into Gate’s ecosystem, GUSD is positioned as a vital tool for on-chain cash management. It is also a key driver for mainstream RWA adoption in crypto.

AI-Native Settlement Layers: How United Stables Is Building the Next Financial Rail

Stablecoins were originally designed as dollar substitutes within exchanges, primarily used for asset pricing and trade settlement. As on-chain financial ecosystems have matured, their role has expanded beyond simple payments to include collateral assets, cross-chain liquidity mediums, and unified settlement units. In particular, as AI systems and automated agents begin to participate directly in economic activity, demand has risen sharply for programmable value units capable of instant settlement. This shift is pushing stablecoins toward the role of foundational financial infrastructure.

DePIN Identity Network and Real World Applications: How Humanity Protocol Brings on-chain Identity Into the Physical World

Most Web3 identity systems remain confined to on-chain environments and struggle to achieve meaningful adoption in real world settings. Through a DePIN architecture and physical verification hardware, Humanity Protocol aims to bring decentralized identity into access control systems, hospitality, public services, and offline events, allowing on-chain identity to function not just as a digital credential, but as foundational infrastructure for real world access.

Aster vs Hyperliquid: Which Perp DEX Will Prevail?

Aster and Hyperliquid are the two representative protocols of the "purpose-built L1 path" within the current decentralized perpetual exchange (Perp DEX) sector. As a pioneer in the field, Hyperliquid has built a deep liquidity moat through its highly mature order book architecture and strong community consensus. Conversely, Aster, as a rising challenger, seeks to leapfrog the competition in high-performance trading through more aggressive multi-chain aggregation logic, private transaction modules, and an underlying execution environment optimized for 2026 market demands.

Aerodrome Tokenomics: How ve(3,3) Powers Base's Most Profitable DEX

AERO is the native token of Aerodrome Finance, a core decentralized exchange and liquidity protocol in the Base ecosystem. It is primarily used for liquidity incentives and ecosystem operations. veAERO is a governance NFT that users receive by locking AERO, representing both voting power and the right to share protocol revenue. Through a dual track structure of AERO as a utility token and veAERO as a governance credential, Aerodrome separates liquidity usage value from long term governance power, allowing participants to act as liquidity providers, governance decision makers, and revenue sharers within the same system.
