Infrared has officially launched the IR Rewards Treasury, enabling users to stake IR-related LP tokens on Berachain. This allows participation in Proof of Liquidity (PoL) and access to corresponding rewards. Supported trading pairs currently include USDT0-IR, IR-USDT0, IR-WBERA, and WBERA-IR, giving liquidity providers a wider range of strategic options.
This design positions IR as more than just a governance or value token—it becomes an integral part of Berachain’s revenue infrastructure.
According to the official timeline, Infrared plans to introduce native IR staking in January 2026. At that point, users will be able to stake IR in exchange for sIR and earn protocol-generated revenue. The protocol will also implement a buyback mechanism to return value to long-term IR holders, further reinforcing the token’s long-term incentive structure.
Looking ahead, Infrared intends to roll out a Dutch auction system in Q1 2026. Third-party protocols will be able to use IR to bid for BGT emission rights. Funds from successful bids will be locked for one year and allocated exclusively to the protocol’s future development and growth. This approach not only introduces a competitive bidding process but also creates new use cases for IR.
