Multicoin Capital accumulates 60 million Worldcoin (WLD) despite price decline

Multicoin Capital is believed to have purchased 60 million Worldcoin (WLD) through a direct OTC transaction with the project team, despite the token’s price dropping more than 21% over the past month. On-chain data recorded by Lookonchain shows that an address associated with Multicoin transferred 30 million USDC to Worldcoin and then received 60 million WLD in return, indicating this was not a market open purchase.

The transaction occurred amid waning market interest in Worldcoin. According to Dune Analytics, the number of new active wallets has sharply decreased since September, reflecting declining retail demand even as institutions continue to accumulate. The search trend for “Worldcoin” on Google Trends also plummeted from a peak of 100 to just 6.

In addition to price pressure, Worldcoin faces increasing legal risks, especially in Thailand, Indonesia, and Kenya.
