LNG carriers have appeared near the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia for the first time in months.
Jin10 data reported on June 26 that a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker seems to be heading towards Russia’s Arctic LNG export facility, which may be Moscow’s latest effort to restart the facility that has been offline for eight months. According to vessel tracking data, an LNG tanker named Iris is expected to arrive at the Arctic LNG 2 facility later on Thursday. The facility last exported LNG in October of last year. It is uncertain whether the ship will still dock at the Arctic LNG 2 facility or load fuel. Russia plans to triple its LNG export volume by 2030, but this plan has been hampered by restrictions from the United States and Europe. If the Arctic LNG 2 project resumes exports, it would indicate that Moscow is still keen to expand supply and is looking for willing buyers.
