Gate Research Institute: BTC Volatility Remains High, Divergence in Hedging Demand Appears

According to Gate Research Institute, this week the crypto market remained volatile under the dual disturbances of macro factors and investor sentiment. The Bank of Japan’s interest rate hike expectations and continued uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve’s policies are still fermenting, with the probability of a rate cut in December currently at 89.2%. BTC rebounded strongly on Wednesday, briefly rising to around $93,000, indicating a clear short-term recovery. On the technical side, support below remains firm, and the overall market is in a news-driven range-bound phase.
This week, implied volatility in the options market fell compared to last week, with BTC and ETH IV at 48.6% and 70%, respectively. Over the weekend, the 25-Delta Skew for both BTC and ETH steepened rapidly, indicating a spread of panic and defensive sentiment in the market. BTC volatility risk premium turned from negative to positive, hovering near the zero axis. The largest cumulative block trade was a purchase of BTC-51225-75000-P, with a total volume of about 1,200 BTC and premium expenditure of around $270,000; as well as a purchase of ETH-51225-3100-C, with a total volume of about 25,000 ETH and premium expenditure of around $340,000.
