We conducted an in-depth study of over 2,500 agent configuration documents and found that the best-performing files all followed a similar pattern.
First, practical documents will place executable commands directly at the beginning, rather than lengthy introductions. This allows developers to quickly get started and saves them the hassle of flipping through pages. Secondly, code examples are always more persuasive than textual descriptions—real code snippets can be understood instantly, while piled explanations can have the opposite effect.
Security boundaries are also crucial. Those well-prepared documents will clearly state hard rules like "never submit sensitive information," providing developers with peace of mind. At the same time, it is necessary to clearly indicate what the tech stack is—key selection factors should be clear at a glance, so that efforts can be targeted.
Finally, the six core areas of coverage cannot be overlooked. The integrity of these elements directly affects the practical value of the document and the user experience.
