Bitwise Pushes Deeper Into Altcoins With Broad ETF Filing
Source: Coindoo Original Title: Bitwise Pushes Deeper Into Altcoins With Broad ETF Filing Original Link: https://coindoo.com/bitwise-pushes-deeper-into-altcoins-with-broad-etf-filing/ Crypto asset manager Bitwise is pushing further into the altcoin ETF arena after submitting a broad filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a new suite of single-token “strategy” exchange-traded funds.
If approved, the move would mark one of the most expansive attempts yet to package individual altcoins into regulated U.S. investment products.
Key takeaways:
Rather than focusing on Bitcoin or Ethereum, the proposal targets a wide range of non-BTC assets, signaling that issuers are increasingly confident there is institutional demand beyond the largest cryptocurrencies.
A New ETF Structure for Altcoins
The filing covers eleven separate ETFs, each tied to a single digital asset. The list includes tokens associated with decentralized finance, artificial intelligence, and layer-one ecosystems, such as Aave,某DEX, Zcash, Bittensor, Sui, and Near.
Unlike traditional spot ETFs, these products are structured as “strategy ETFs.” According to the filing, each fund would gain exposure through a rules-based approach that blends multiple instruments rather than holding only spot tokens. Up to 60% of a fund’s assets could be invested directly in the underlying cryptocurrency, while at least 40% would be allocated to securities issued by exchange-traded products that also track or reference the same asset. Derivatives may also be used to fine-tune exposure.
How the New Funds Fit Bitwise’s Existing Lineup
Bitwise already operates a diverse range of crypto-related ETFs in the U.S. market. Its current offerings include spot-based funds such as the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF, Ethereum ETF, Solana Staking ETF, and XRP ETF, all of which hold their respective assets directly.
Beyond spot products, the firm also manages equity and index-based strategies, including the Bitwise Crypto Industry Innovators ETF and the Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF. Futures-based strategies linked to CME-listed contracts round out the lineup.
The proposed single-token strategy ETFs would add a new layer to that shelf. Instead of diversified exposure, each fund would concentrate risk and performance around one altcoin, applying the same structural framework across multiple assets.
Part of a Broader ETF Expansion Trend
Bitwise’s filing lands amid an intensifying wave of crypto ETF and ETP applications. Grayscale has recently moved to convert its Bittensor trust into a spot ETF, while issuers such as VanEck and 21Shares have sought approvals for products tied to assets including Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, and Avalanche.
What sets Bitwise apart is the scale and consistency of its approach. Rather than filing for one or two standalone altcoin ETFs, the firm is proposing an entire family of products built around a shared strategy template. If approved, the lineup would give U.S. investors a regulated way to access a broad cross-section of the altcoin market through ETFs, further expanding the bridge between traditional finance and crypto.
