In a candid message to the SHIB community, developer Kaal Dhairya acknowledged that 2025—particularly its final stretch—represented the most challenging chapter in the project’s history. The Shibarium bridge hack served as a stark reminder of what happens when leadership fractures during critical moments.

Taking Responsibility and Moving Forward

Dhairya directly addressed concerns that had been circulating: Why didn’t the team file official complaints about the Shibarium hack? His answer was straightforward—he’s been working directly with federal agents. All incident details and recovery information have been shared through proper channels, and “the official process is happening,” he emphasized. The message was clear: authorities are involved, and transparency is being maintained.

On the technical front, recovery efforts are substantially complete. The checkpoint system is operational again, and Hexens has thoroughly reviewed all major modifications to the bridge infrastructure.

SOU: How Shiba Inu Plans to Make Users Whole

Rather than relying on promises or hidden spreadsheets, the Shiba Inu team introduced Shib Owes You (SOU)—a novel approach to repaying affected users. Each eligible person receives an SOU NFT on Ethereum that serves as an immutable, on-chain record of exactly how much the ecosystem owes them. These aren’t just tokens; they’re tradeable, mergeable, and splittable on supported marketplaces, giving users flexibility over their claims.
