The U.S. dollar displayed robust strength in foreign exchange markets, with the Dollar Index advancing 0.21% to settle at 98.241. This movement reflects a broader dollar appreciation trend across global currency pairs.

Mixed Performance Across Currency Pairs

In the New York forex session, the dollar demonstrated varied momentum against different major currencies. Against the euro, the greenback gained ground, with the exchange rate moving to 1.1747, down from the previous 1.1767 level. The British pound similarly weakened relative to the dollar, retreating to 1.3466 from 1.3507.

Dollar Gains Steam Against Asian and European Currencies

The dollar’s outperformance was more pronounced in Asian markets. The Japanese yen declined sharply against the greenback, with USD/JPY climbing to 156.49 from 156.03. European currencies also faced headwinds, as the Swiss franc weakened to 0.7917 from 0.7896 against the dollar.

North American and Nordic Currency Moves

The dollar extended gains in the Americas region, with the Canadian dollar moving lower at 1.3696 compared to 1.3684 in the prior session. Meanwhile, the Swedish krona faced fresh selling pressure, touching 9.1996 from 9.1802, indicating consistent dollar resilience across multiple currency baskets tracked by the DXY index.

The overall strengthening of the U.S. Dollar Index suggests sustained market appetite for dollar-denominated assets amid ongoing currency market volatility.
