Pi Network Activates Testnet 25 Today as Mainnet Vote Near
Pi Network has activated its Testnet 25 upgrade today. The update will go live at 21 UTC. This testnet upgrade is part of a larger technical plan. Which prepares the network for its next mainnet changes.
According to community posts, Testnet 25 builds on earlier upgrades, including Protocol 23. Together, these updates aim to bring more features to the Pi ecosystem. Developers and the community see this step as groundwork for future tools, apps and on-chain activity.
The team has already set the next key date. The community has scheduled the mainnet upgrade vote for January 22 at 17 UTC. Pioneers are expected to vote. On whether the changes should move forward on the main network.
What Testnet 25 Means for Pioneers
Testnet upgrades allow teams to test new features before releasing them fully. Testnet 25 focuses on system level changes. That supports smart contracts, security tools and future apps. Community alerts remind that Pi’s mainnet is still partially closed. Transfers to outside wallets are limited. Node access has not yet opened to all pioneers. Because of this, most activity remains internal. While the network continues to mature.
Many users believe the period before the January 22 vote is important. The network is still in its Open Network phase, launched in early 2025. Current efforts focus on stability, safety and real use cases. Rather than fast expansion.
Pi Network Launches Official News Feed
Pi Network has also launched an official in app news feed. This feed shows news from recognized third-party outlets. Community members say this move helps users follow verified updates and long term plans more easily.
The news feed also shows Pi Network’s growing public presence. Over the past year, Pi has appeared in several mainstream and crypto media reports. These covered topics like the open network launch, ecosystem growth and developer programs. Supporters see the news feed as a way to reduce rumors. It also highlights trusted information directly inside the ecosystem.
Security, Growth and Key Numbers
Security remains a major focus. Earlier today, the Pi Core Team shared that its official X account is the only verified source for updates. Users were directed to the Pi Safety Center to avoid scams and fake links.
Recent community data points to steady growth. Around 15.8 million users have migrated to the mainnet. About 17.5 million have completed KYC. More than 215 apps are now live and many are from past hackathons. January also includes a large token unlock of roughly 134 million PI. With Testnet 25 live and the mainnet vote ahead. The network is entering a busy phase. Currently, Pi Network appears focused on preparation, security and gradual rollout. Rather than rushing changes.
