Recently, there has been a major development in the storage track. Walrus, with its breakthrough technology and ecosystem potential, completed a $140 million funding round, with its valuation soaring to $2 billion, making it a new favorite among investors in this sector.

This round of funding was led by Standard Crypto, with top institutions like a16z crypto and Franklin Templeton participating. Interestingly, most of the investors are early supporters of Mysten Labs, forming a community of shared interests. Why are capital markets so optimistic about it? The core reasons are threefold: Red Stuff encoding technology balances cost and security; programmability opens up imaginative application spaces; and data controllability directly unlocks the enterprise market.

As a new layout by Mysten Labs following Sui Network and DeepBook, Walrus fills the storage gap in the Sui ecosystem. More importantly, WAL, as the ecosystem token, has a clear value capture mechanism and is expected to become a new benchmark in this sector. Endorsement from professional capital has laid a solid foundation for its subsequent ecosystem expansion.

1.4 billion in financing with a 2 billion valuation, these numbers are really hard to sustain, just afraid it will turn out to be another air project. This circle is so small, everyone mutuals and promotes each other, claiming to break storage bottlenecks. I think they’re just supporting each other. Does WAL token really have value capture? Let’s wait until it launches. I’ve seen too many stories like this. Sui ecosystem doesn’t lack money, what’s scary is that when the money comes in, it might ruin the ecosystem instead. The Red Paper technology sounds impressive, but many players have failed in the storage track, so why does this one work? It’s always a16z, every time it’s a16z. Do they really treat tokens as money-printing machines? I just want to know, what will be the price after it gets listed on exchanges, don’t just hype the valuation.

It's the same old pattern from Mysten: funding - ecosystem - tokens. They keep playing the script and get addicted, but Walrus this time does have some substance. Storage is definitely a bottleneck, so it all depends on whether it can truly be implemented. Otherwise, it's just another PPT project.

Haha, yet another new concept hyped up by capital. But with a16z and Franklin Templeton investing simultaneously, there might really be something this time. Sui ecosystem complements storage, sounds like the next big move. Can WAL's value capture mechanism be realized? That’s the key. A valuation of 2 billion, taking off directly. Quite impressive. Just worried that the ecosystem might not keep up with the narrative later on. This group of institutions forming a利益共同体 (interest community), in simple terms, aims to make Walrus an ecosystem benchmark. I just want to see if it’s practical. With Red Red Fire Fire, they raised 140 million in a daze. The funding in the storage sector is really substantial.

The storage track is indeed quite promising. Projects that a16z back usually manage to make a splash... But is a $2 billion valuation really set in stone so early? I have a feeling it will get very competitive later on. Once again, it's about the Sui ecosystem layout. Mysten Labs is playing a big game—let's see if WAL can truly live up to the expectations for this ecosystem token. With such smooth fundraising, now it's all about whether the technology implementation and ecosystem development can keep up with the hype. Red Stuff's approach to balancing cost and security sounds a bit innovative... But having seen so many projects stumble in the storage sector, let's wait and see.

A valuation of 2 billion is quite aggressive, but looking at the investor list, they are all big players. With both a16z and Franklin involved, there must be something substantial.

A valuation of 2 billion just to address the shortcomings of the Sui ecosystem is indeed something significant.

It's another round of capital collusion game, with investors of Mysten Labs endorsing each other... However, a $2 billion valuation is quite aggressive; we'll have to see if WAL can deliver on its promises later.
