According to The Star, Malaysian police conducted three raids in Teluk Intan, Perak, and seized 41 suspected devices used for illegal cryptocurrency mining. Hilir Perak police chief Bakri Zainal Abidin stated that the first operation was carried out on Friday evening, resulting in the seizure of 24 devices; two additional operations in the early hours of Saturday (January 10) recovered 9 and 8 devices respectively. The police said the case involves violations of Section 427 (mischief) of the Penal Code and Section 37 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990 (illegal use of electricity). No arrests have been made so far, and the case is still under investigation to identify the individuals or groups involved.
