#钱包安全漏洞 Seeing the security vulnerability incident of Trust Wallet, my first reaction was to feel fortunate — fortunately, the official acknowledgment was quick, and the compensation was straightforward. The $7 million loss was openly disclosed without concealment, which is rare transparency in the crypto world.

But upon closer reflection, the issues exposed by this incident are far more serious than the compensation itself. The vulnerability in browser extension v2.68, which allowed hackers to successfully submit and publish new versions, indicates what? Wallet security is not just about private keys; the entire distribution chain has become a risk point. We tend to trust big-name wallets, but trust itself is the biggest risk.

Anyone who has experienced several market cycles knows that many scams are not directly rug pulls by project teams, but start from security vulnerabilities. Hackers infiltrate wallets, users lose everything, and then blame-shifting ensues. Trust Wallet’s response this time was good, but not all attacks are handled responsibly.

The most practical advice: don’t put all your eggs in one basket, especially with browser extensions. Use hardware wallets or cold wallets for large assets, and browser wallets for daily operations. Always check the version number carefully before updating, and think twice before accepting forced update prompts. The longer you stay active on the chain, the more you should consider risks upfront.
