People’s Financial News, March 12 — The General Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region issued the “Guangxi Five-Year Action Plan for Urban Renewal (2026–2030).” The plan proposes to promote the renovation of old neighborhoods, old factory areas, and urban villages. It encourages each city to upgrade their characteristic commercial districts, relying on retail innovation pilot programs to drive scene-based transformations of commercial streets. The plan also aims to continuously recognize tourism and leisure street districts and develop a number of urban neighborhoods. It seeks to cultivate creative industry clusters and old factory areas led by innovative culture, adding a batch of national and autonomous regional industrial heritage projects. The plan promotes high-quality urban village renovation projects with strong community willingness and balanced funding, and encourages the advancement of monetized resettlement methods such as “housing vouchers.” It also advocates for the coordinated renewal and renovation of old train stations like Nanning Station and surrounding old districts where conditions permit.
