When faced with things they don't understand, humans ultimately have only two paths:


1. Spend time and effort to truly understand it
2. Slap a label on it and call it a day

Unfortunately, the vast majority choose the second path, yet convince themselves they're taking the first.
What's even more tragic is that they don't reflect on this, but instead jump out to mock and sneer at those who are genuinely researching and trying to understand.

The truly terrifying thing isn't ignorance,
but packaging ignorance as "clarity," "insight," or "pragmatism," then using it to attack those still groping in the darkness.
Labels are the cheapest cognitive shortcut and the most expensive cognitive prison.
Next time you see someone rushing to label a person, thing, or idea, try silently repeating to yourself:
"You're just too lazy to understand. Stop adding unnecessary drama."
