Meituan CEO Wang Xing: AI Agent's impact on me is greater than ChatGPT's impact

On March 13, 2026, during the management communication meeting, Meituan’s CEO Wang Xing shared his views on the development of artificial intelligence (AI). He pointed out that the transformative impact of AI will far surpass that of the entire internet. He vividly compared mobile internet and traditional internet to “roses and peonies,” while likening the relationship between AI and the internet to “monkeys and flowers,” emphasizing AI’s greater scale and influence.

Wang Xing stated that in the face of the AI wave, companies and individuals should actively embrace this change. He believes that AI Agents will have a more profound impact on him than ChatGPT. Wang Xing mentioned that having experienced the transformation from the internet to mobile internet, he is confident that the changes brought by AI will be even greater, not only creating higher productivity but also profoundly affecting organizational and work models.

He emphasized that digitization of the physical world is an important foundation for AI. Although current large AI models are becoming increasingly intelligent, there are still limitations in information acquisition in practical applications. For example, even Einstein’s secretary might not know if a restaurant has seats available when ordering food — this is not a matter of intelligence, but of information.

To adapt to this transformation, Meituan has launched several AI applications and independently developed large models. Wang Xing also revealed that in 2026, Meituan will increase investment in real information infrastructure. During this year’s Spring Festival, Meituan launched an AI search product called “Ask Little Tuan,” aimed at enhancing user service experience.
