There's something I'll never forget.

I remember it was my first time dining with a client. Before we left, my boss specifically pulled me aside and repeatedly instructed me: "When socializing with clients, you need to know the rules. Just stick to picking dishes from your own plate in front of you. Never reach your chopsticks far across the table, and definitely don't stand up to grab food. We need the client to feel that we're cultured and well-mannered, so the chances of successful cooperation will be greater!"

I kept those words firmly in mind the entire time. I followed the teachings throughout the whole meal, only touching the dishes on my own plate the entire time.

But as soon as the dinner ended, I overheard everyone whispering: "Who was that guy who came with the boss earlier? He ate like he'd never had meat before—he finished an entire plate of pork elbow by himself!" It seems like the boss treats him poorly. This company probably won't be worth partnering with..."

I was confused. I didn't do anything wrong, right? I did everything exactly as the boss told me to.
