The 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea closed in Pyongyang on February 25. During his work summary report, General Secretary Kim Jong-un stated that the prospects for US-North Korea relations depend entirely on the US attitude. Kim Jong-un said that in the Asia-Pacific region, the expansion and cross-border military activities of the US-led aggressive group seriously threaten the security of the Korean Peninsula and the region. North Korea will continue to be fully prepared for confrontation with the United States and maintain its firm stance of a tough policy toward the US. Kim Jong-un said that if the US withdraws its hostile policy toward North Korea, there is no reason for North Korea not to engage amicably with the US. If the US does not change its consistent approach and insists on confrontation to the end, North Korea will respond decisively. “The prospects for US-North Korea relations depend entirely on the US attitude.” (CCTV International News)
