【Introduction】Alibaba assembles AI team, establishes Token Hub, mysterious “Goku Business Unit” targets B2B applications

On March 16, it was reported that Alibaba officially established the Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) business group, creating a new organization centered on “creating tokens, delivering tokens, applying tokens,” directly led by Alibaba CEO Wu Yongming.

This is an important organizational adjustment for Alibaba in the AI Agent era, with Token Hub as the main focus, strengthening AI business strategic collaboration, and fully promoting Alibaba’s AI strategy implementation.

According to reports, Alibaba Token Hub includes Tongyi Laboratory, MaaS business line, Qianwen Business Unit, Goku Business Unit, and AI Innovation Business Unit, covering everything from foundational model development and model service platforms to AI applications for individuals and enterprises.

Among them, the Goku Business Unit appears in the public eye for the first time, positioned as a “B2B AI native work platform, deeply integrating model capabilities into enterprise workflows.” This means that, in addition to the C-end AI application Qianwen App, Alibaba will also focus on the B2B AI application market.

Dear Alibaba team:

We are currently on the eve of AGI explosion. A large number of digital tasks will be supported by hundreds of billions of AI Agents, which run on tokens generated by models, becoming the main carriers of human interaction with the digital world.

Facing this historic opportunity, the group has decided to officially establish the Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) business group, creating a new organization focused on “creating tokens, delivering tokens, applying tokens.”

The Alibaba Token Hub business group is directly led by me, strengthening strategic coordination across AI businesses, reshaping work methods with AI, and maintaining an agile organization. Specific businesses include:

Tongyi Laboratory: Creating leading multimodal models, continuously pushing the limits of foundational model capabilities, providing the most advanced models for the group and industry.
MaaS Business Line: Building an efficient, open model service platform and technical system to support the entire industry’s AI ecosystem.
Qianwen Business Unit: Developing the best personal AI assistant.
Goku Business Unit: Building a B2B AI native work platform, deeply integrating model capabilities into enterprise workflows.
AI Innovation Business Unit: Exploring various AI innovative applications, rapidly validating new models and markets.
