People’s Financial News, March 20 — According to the latest information from the National Healthcare Security Administration, version 3.0 of the Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) payment scheme is expected to be released in July this year and is planned to be officially implemented in January 2027. DRG-based payment refers to grouping or converting disease diagnoses and treatments into standardized units to implement bundled payments to healthcare providers. The grouping scheme is the core technical aspect of DRG payment. This adjustment will focus on factors such as age and complications that are more commonly considered in clinical opinions, and will specifically improve grouping rules for age subdivisions, unilateral/bilateral/multi-site surgeries, obstetrics grouping, radiotherapy and chemotherapy for malignant tumors, and combined surgeries. The main adjustments will be made to the core and subdivided groups of the DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and to the core disease database (DIP) for disease scoring. Additionally, the plan considers the future integration of DRG and DIP, coordinating related technical foundations to facilitate their combined development. (Xinhua News Agency)
