Uber e Nvidia planeiam lançar serviço de táxi autónomo em 28 cidades a partir de 2027
Local time March 16, Uber (UBER.US) and Nvidia (NVDA.US) announced that they will deploy a fleet of autonomous taxis powered by Nvidia’s self-driving software in Los Angeles and San Francisco starting from 2027, with plans to expand the service to 28 cities worldwide by 2028. This expansion will cover North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
The two companies stated that these autonomous taxis will operate on Nvidia’s DRIVE Hyperion autonomous vehicle platform and the Alpamayo AI model, which is designed to handle complex road scenarios. Deployment will begin with data collection vehicles to train the system to adapt to specific city driving conditions, followed by a phased rollout with operator supervision, ultimately achieving fully driverless Level 4 operation.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said that this partnership aims to support a “multi-player” autonomous vehicle ecosystem on the company’s platform, as more developers and automakers bring autonomous taxi services to market. The collaboration with Nvidia further strengthens Uber’s strategy of building partnerships in the autonomous driving industry rather than developing technology independently.
Previously, Uber had reached agreements with electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Group and autonomous startup Nuro to deploy autonomous taxis based on Lucid vehicles and driven by Nuro’s autonomous driving software on the Uber network.
